Nude Aussie bicycle riders take to streets of Melbourne for World's Naked Bike Ride

A newly married couple got a wedding picture with a difference when naked cyclists converged on their photo session at State ParliamentHouse on March 15th.

World Naked Bike Ride organiser Heidi Hill said the newlyweds grabbed the chance to get a photo when the cyclists reached the mid-way point of their annual ride yesterday.

“They were having photos taken on the steps of Parliament House and all of a sudden we showed up and they had to have a photos with us,” Ms Hill said.

>>Gallery: last year’s ride
Warning: both galleries contain nudity

Ms Hill said the naked bike ride through Melbourne’s streets went off without a hitch.
Police accompanied cyclists from Fitzroy to State Parliament and back yesterday, but no arrests were made.

Event participants last week vowed they were prepared to be arrested if police tried to stop them riding nude along Brunsick and Lygon streets.

Police last year told male cyclists to cover up “because men have exposed genitalia”.
Ms Hill said about 50 cyclists who braved the cold yesterday “had a ball” on the hour-long ride.
“We had a couple of people fall off in the wet on the tram tracks, but no one was injured,” Ms Hill said.

“Police were helpful but unobtrusive. They let everyone ride naked.”

KGS Bikes custom bicycles know nothing about the credit crunch

Tier 3

Luxury is something that could come your way in any form, and if it’s simply a two-wheeler, then it definitely needs your attention. Custom bicycles from the house of KGS Bikes seem to be a recession defying notion at the time when companies from all around the world have succumbed to the global financial meltdown. Maybe it’s a bad time to introduce luxury bicycles, but it doesn’t stop Kevin Saunders from rolling out the high-end custom bicycle “Tier 3” priced at a cool $30,000. The one-of-the-kind custom bicycle that costs almost equivalent to a car comes etched with fine woodwork and comfort riding that adds an immeasurable value to the buyer’s life. Apart from the highest priced bicycle, the manufacturer brings two relatively low-end versions - Tier 1 and Tier 2 – priced at $10,000 and $20,000, respectively. Saunders says his high-end KGS bicycles are as exclusive as a Lamborghini, Rolls Royce or Bugatti.

Gladiator helmet makes you the scariest cyclist around

Regular bike helmets protect your head when you fall, but do they intimidate and terrify everyone around you? No, they don't. That's not so with the Gladiator Helmet, which looks like it does a questionable job of protecting your melon but does a bang-up job of making you the most intimidating cyclist on the street.

While the helmet/goggles combo doesn't look too comfortable, and while it looks like it would julienne your head rather than protect it in a fall, it has a certain look to it. You know, a look that says "I'm not above murdering you if you get in my way." And there's certainly something to be said for that.

An exercise bike that chills beers makes exercise more appealing...

If you're trying to get yourself to exercise more, you need the proper motivation. Sure, losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle are OK motivations I guess, but I prefer a more tangible incentive: beer. Frosty, cold beer.

That's why this exercise bike would be perfect for me. It's got a heat pump attached to it, so if you drop a beer in and pedal enough, it'll cool it off for you. So you can time your workouts instead of by calories burned or minutes biked but by beers cooled. Once you chill up a six pack, it's time to stop. What a healthy system!

Obama campaign panders to anyone and everyone

Not that I trying to pass along ANY political advice, nor am I am not trying to add any new riders to the Obama train, but I thought that the Obama campaign's idea to milk more campaign money out of the average American was definitely cyclist-centric...

A website called DemocraticStuff.com is selling what they call “Special Interest” buttons, allowing for Obama supporters to express their individuality and their support for Obama with a single $1 pin.

There are buttons for scuba divers, trekkies, chefs, banjo players, mathematicians, DJs, and almost anything else you can think of - including, of course, cyclists.

It’s Bad for Ya by George Carlin

Enjoy one last round of comic gold from the late great George Carlin on It's Bad for Ya ($14).

As an audio recording of Carlin's 14th and final HBO comedy special, It's Bad for Ya covers ground both new and old, including the advantages of being old, and our bizarre preoccupation with bullshit.

For those of you who want the full experience, the entire show will be available on DVD this fall.

Have you seen Dave Zabriskie’s Nuts yet??!!??

Get your mind out of the gutter. I’m not talking about Dave Zabriskie’s gonads. I’m talking about Dave Zabriskie’s new chamois cream: DZNuts.

If you've been riding more than a few monts, you're no doubt acquainted with the nasty chaffing that can occur during even the easiest ride. DZ-NUTS ($22) is a high viscosity chamois cream that features green tea, evodia and masterwort designed to prevent friction in 'unfortunate places'.

If you know anything at all about Dave Z the you will know that he is quite the jokester, and has a great (or twisted) sense of humor, and he continues with that humor on his products

Dave hits us over the head with the 'taint' gag on the product box:

"Proper MAINTAINTANANCE of the perineal area is essential during high level training and racing. Nothing can ruin stage race success faster than an infected saddle sore."

It’s a good thing he bolded "taint," made it all caps, and put it in red, or I might’ve missed it.

Computer-controlled coffee roaster is a bit much...

How serious are you about your coffee? I don't mean how you need coffee to survive in the morning, but how serious are you about roasting it? If you're happy with Starbucks that's one thing, but some folks take roasting their own beans to the next level. And for those people, there are devices like this computer-controlled coffee roaster.

This enormous contraption hooks up to your computer to do its thing. A fan inside the roaster controls the roasting process. The roasting chamber itself uses two tubes, one made of bakelite and the other a 3-inch diameter glass tube. To prevent damaging the setup and to allow for heat dissipation, this amazing Computer-Controlled Coffee Roaster uses a high temperature RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) Silicone.

A screen at the bottom of the device can be used to empty the roaster and get freshly roasted beans at any time.Or, alternatively, you could just settle for Starbucks like a normal person. Just saying!

Coffee Joke, A Clean One -The 23rd Cup

Coffee Joke, A Clean One -The 23rd Cup- : "Coffee Joke, A Clean One -The 23rd Cup-
Found this one on CoffeeSage and thought it was worthy of posting here on the Caffeinated Cyclist...

I hope you get a kick from it. I did.

Caffeine is my shepherd;
I shall not doze.
It maketh me to wake in green pastures;
It leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.
It restoreth my buzz.
It leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for its name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction,
I’ll fear no Equal for thou art with me;
Thy cream and thy flavorings they comfort me.
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez.
Thou anointest my days with vigor; my mug runneth over.
Surely flavor and aroma shall follow me all the days of my life
and I will dwell in the House of Maxwell forever.
Amen!

Star Trek Coffee House - Is This The Final Frontier?

Well it looks like G4 TV has gone 'caffeinated' with one of their old ads for Star Trek re-runs

I couldn’t help but post this. It is a Star Trek version of a coffee house. Make sure you turn it up to hear Mr. Spock

Too Funny....

Besides gamers and coffee go together just like cycling and coffee. Come to think of it most of the cyclists I know are also gamers. I also noticed while browsing the G4 website, that "Spaceballs, the animated series" is coming soon

Who says we Americans don't have a sense of humor?

Americans demand to be buried in coffee tins following "The Bucket List"

via Telegraph.co.uk

A coffee company whose tins are used as urns in the film The Bucket List, are reporting a stream of letters from fans who want to use the tins as the final resting place for their loved ones.

Inspired by the film starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, consumers are contacting Chock Full O'Nuts, the company whose coffee features in the story.
The product has been marketed for 75 years as "the heavenly coffee" and empty cans of the product are used as urns for the main characters who suffer from terminal cancer.

Visit the Chock Full O'Nuts website for coffee tips, information about their coffees, more stories about the 'urns' and to order online.
